Policies

The practical fine print, in normal words.

How contributions, financial support, privacy, and sharing work at Groundwork Labs.

Financial support

Financial support means voluntary help with development costs, including software, tools, hosting, services, assets, equipment, and other Groundwork Labs project expenses. Online payments aren't available here yet. If a project welcomes financial support, use its contact link to ask about it.

Support may be attributed to the project that inspired it, but Groundwork Labs retains discretion to use it across legitimate development expenses unless a separate agreement says otherwise.

Support is not a charitable donation, investment, ownership stake, or preorder. It does not guarantee continued development, completion, release, features, rewards, or a timeline. Any future payment option needs clear payment terms before money is accepted.

Contributions and contributor credits

Contributions mean offers of time, skills, feedback, or other project help. They are separate from financial support. Open Needs describe specific help a project is seeking. Use the contribution link on that project's page to send an offer with the project name included, or use Contact / Ask.

An offer does not automatically create an agreement, employment, ownership, compensation, or public credit. Before substantial work begins, we need to agree on scope, permission to use the work, any compensation, and how credit should appear. Only send work you have permission to share.

Contributor credits recognize agreed contributions. We'll agree on how your name appears, including whether you prefer to remain anonymous, before sharing a credit. Your contact details stay private. Ask through Contact / Ask if a credit needs correction or removal.

Privacy

Groundwork Labs is Jess's public workshop. Contact forms collect the name, email, project, topic, and message you send so I can review and respond. Project links also include the project's URL name to keep your message associated with it. Update signups collect your email and whether you signed up from the main or maintenance page so I can send Groundwork Labs updates.

Netlify hosts this site and processes form submissions. Hosting and security services may process request information such as IP addresses, browser information, and access logs. Form submissions are stored in Netlify Forms; project records use Netlify Database, and project Likes use Netlify Blobs. Private contact details are not part of public project pages.

The site stores a random visitor identifier in your browser to remember project Likes, and a separate preference for the homepage introduction. Clearing browser storage resets those preferences. Owner sign-in uses GitHub and session cookies; visitors do not need an account to browse.

Please do not send passwords, banking details, children's personal information, or confidential material through these forms. To ask about your information, request a correction or deletion, or stop receiving updates, use Contact / Ask. Some records may need to be retained for security, recordkeeping, or legal obligations; deletion from active records does not necessarily remove historical backups immediately.

External project links and services have their own privacy practices. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Using the workshop

Project pages describe work in progress. Status, prototypes, plans, and availability can change. A project page is not a promise of delivery or an offer to sell. Linked products and services may have separate terms.

You are welcome to browse, link to pages, ask questions, and send constructive feedback. Do not misuse forms, impersonate someone, submit harmful material, or share another person's private information.

Publishing material here does not grant a license to copy, redistribute, or commercially use it. Project code, artwork, writing, and third-party assets remain subject to their owners' rights and any license explicitly attached to them. Contact me about reuse or collaboration.

AI and project transparency

I use AI tools in parts of research, planning, writing, design, and development, and I review the material before sharing it. Concept art, prototypes, and current builds should be identified for what they are. AI assistance does not make an unfinished project a released product.

Questions and changes

Use Contact / Ask for policy questions, privacy requests, contribution offers, or financial support questions. These policies describe this Groundwork Labs site; linked projects may publish their own policies.
